Knights And Chivalry
.... of Alcantara, Calatrava, and Santiago. In the late Middle Ages, rulers
formed secular orders of chivalry such as the English Order of the Garter and
the Burgundian Order of the Golden Fleece. By this time, however, chivalry had
become largely a system of etiquette. Tournaments, in which knights had
originally risked their lives in jousting combat before the ladies, became
simply elaborate, stylized, and harmless entertainments. Moreover, the expense
of this and other trappings of knighthood led m .....

Feminists
.... matter. The second is of a women like the author above, someone
who is extreme just to be extreme. To my disappointment it seems the later is
becoming more prevalent within society.
After reading the article I scrolled down the page to where it listed
"more feminist links", the five that were given consisted of; three lesbian
rights pages, and two "neo-feminist pages". Thinking this must be only a small
percentage of feminist pages which were given by this specific author, I went
back and searched many .....

First Impressions May Be Deceiving
.... was also constructed with security and
protection in mind. Also, the impressive exterior of the library resembles that
of a modern bank. The concrete support pillars not only add strength but also
give the library this impressive look of a bank. These light white-grayish,
square pillars are 2 by 2 ft. and almost half the way up them there are two
engraved lines that run all the way around them about 6 in. from the other.
Concrete, a sign of strength, is also used in the patio around the tower

The First Impression
.... cliché "You cannot judge a book by its cover." Not everything
is what it seems to be. A young man who was on a quest to find himself decided
to do a trek across the United States. When he reached the state of Arizona, he
met up with a man in ragged clothes, messy hair and in need of a bath. Still,
the young man started up a conversation and found this hobo to be very
intellectual and pleasant man despite his appearance. As night approached each
went and sought shelter for the night, but before t .....

Following A Dream Toward Freedom
.... the future days, which we seek to make secure, we look forward to a
world founded upon four essential human freedoms," stated Franklin Roosevelt in
his 1941 President's Annual Address to Congress. "The first is freedom of
speech and expression-everywhere in the world. The second is freedom of every
person to worship God in his own way-everywhere in the world. The third is
freedom want-which, translated into world terms, means economic understandings
which will secure to every nation a healthy peacet .....

A Black Cloud
.... hatred, the Skinheads are
yet another group which have strong prejudices. These so called Skinheads
abominate most races other than their own. White hooded silhouettes,
German Soldiers echoing “Hail Hitler!”, and the infamous Skinheads are
harsh reminders of hatred which exists throughout the world.
In the same way that prejudices of large groups of people are
expressed, hate crimes are committed to demonstrate acts of hatred. Most
recent are the burning of black churches across the South. A crime of .....

Affirmative Action In Seattle
.... gives City managers and personnel officers a snapshot of
the labor market, so that they are aware of the availability rates for
different groups for a given job classification. Through these availability
rates, the City can determine whether or not women, people of color, or
persons with disabilities are underrepresented in a given job
classification within the work force; second, the City's affirmative action
program encourages managers and personnel officers to make special outreach
efforts into groups .....

Animal Rights
.... scientists also agree that this experimental
procedure was wrong but only because primates have higher intelligence. I
don't think it is right for any animal of high or low intelligence, to
suffer that way. In other laboratories animals are confined to small cages
or locked up so that thay can't move. They are then used to test cosmetics
and household chemicals. They have chemicals poured on to their eyes and
skin to see if they cause irritation. These experiments would hurt the
animals by causing .....

Anti-Affirmative Action
.... skills. As remarked by Maarten de Wit, an
author who's article I found on the World Wide Web, affirmative action
beneficiaries are "not the best pick, but only the best pick from a limited
group." Another article I found, "Affirmative action: A Counter-
Productive Policy" by Ernest Pasour also on the W.W.W., is one example
which reveals that Duke, a very famous and prestigious university, adopted
a resolution requiring each of it's department to hire at least one new
African-American for a faculty p .....

Appearances - A Universal Concern
.... seen as repulsive in
another. The gangster with tattoos all over his body, clothed in attire
that is much too large, with rings in all the most unexpected places, and
sporting an outrageous hairdo, considers himself very attractive indeed.
Yet, so do the tall, smartly dressed businesspersons with their suit, tie,
and white handkerchief. Men and women of the Victorian era, when women's
ankles were not even permitted to be exposed, would surely be shocked at
the revealing outfits that have been donned by m .....

Argument For Keeping Repeat Offenders In Jail
.... There will be less need to build, maintain, and expand existing
staff if there are fewer prisoners. But how much more can we cut these
sentences, aren't they short enough already? The average jail sentence is
seven years and eleven months, but the actual average time served is two
years and eleven months. I think there are better ways to save money. For
example, we should cut back on the funding of foreign governments. We have
plenty of our own problems in the United States that we need to take ca .....

The Battle Of The Sexes
.... secretary with
his amazing eight words per minuit typing speed and the skinny little twig
woman wants to be a lumberjack. Men and women have to realize that some
jobs are meant for someone more fitting then what they are.
When god created women, he gave them the ability to have children.
This advantage kind of gives women superiority over men. I'm sure if men
were able to they would have children, but they can't. Back in the
eighteen hundreds it was expected that women stay home and take care of t .....

Being Young
.... being accepted by the group. This
phenomen has a negative side. What if a pupil can't afford to buy these
clothes? Will he or she be excluded from the gang? Some schools in various
countries have tried to solve this problem. They have introduced a rule
that allows pupils to go at school only if they are dressed in a specific
school-uniform. But many students don't like these uniforms. They want to
decide for themselves how to dress.
During the last years it has become more usual for parents to divor .....

Bias
.... slaves themselves.
In the 1920's, black scholars like W.E.B. Du Bois, Charles
Johnson, and Carter Woodson, started a project to collect oral evidence
from former slaves who were still living. Even these interviews could not
be viewed as 100% accurate. One example, is a geographic bias. The people
that were interviewed were only a very small portion of the millions of
freed slaves. Counting the number of slaves interviewed from each state,
it was discovered that there were only 155 interviews from bla .....

Blacks: A Struggle For Racial Equality
.... indisputable that Pete has some
antagonism towards blacks. He treats them with very little respect and
uses the racist term "nigger." This helps to justify that blacks are
treated with considerably less appreciation than other races of people.
Let us also look at the fact that blacks are often socially
outcasted because of their race. We see this in The Runner. "You're
telling me you won't work with him because he's a negro?" "That's right."3
As we can see the above exert clearly shows how the black .....
