The Great Gatsby: Jordan Baker Jordan Baker has a very important function in the novel The Great Gatsby as being a pro-golfer with a boyish, cynical, and self-centered attitude. One of the purposes she serves is that she narrates the story and also helps the reader to understand the other characters by how she interacts and relates to them.
