Marie Curie was the first female recipient of a Nobel Prize. Manya Sklodowska, later to be known as Marie Curie, was born in a small apartment in Warsaw, Poland on November 7, 1867. She was the youngest of five children, and had an infinite love for her mother who was a teacher. Manya's father was also a teacher who taught physics and mathematics. However, being Polish in Russian Poland, Manya's father was poorly paid, and to make matters worse, Manya's mother fell ill to tuberculosis. When Manya was only eleven, her mother died. Man....
