The all-time leading rusher in NFL history succumbed to primary sclerosing cholangitis, a rare disease that eventually caused his liver to shut down. According to reports, his once-magnificent 5-foot-10, 202-pound body had wasted away to nearly half his playing weight. It is an image many find difficult to assimilate today.
