Fidel Castro Fidel Castro was born on August 13, 1926, on a small farm in the municipality of Mayari on the eastern tip of Cuba. His education moved him through most of the country as he went to many prestigious schools. He attended public schools, prep schools and a couple of military schools. He stood out as a brilliant leader and a great athlete and was even courted by several American baseball teams. Except armed with his anti-batista views and brilliant leadership skills he was viewed as a threat and kicked out of many schools. He finally graduated though and started a law practice in the "ghetto" of Havana. His protection of the poor and the homeless showed him the large section of his country that was living in poverty. Finally fed up with the poverty he planned a revolt and on July 26, 1953 his forces tried to take the milit....
