Every person who reads a classic tragedy knows that the protagonist has a fatal flaw that overtakes him in the end. Cyrano de Bergerac is no different. Cyrano, however, seems to have more than one. One flaw could be the way he thinks of himself. The other could be his love for Roxane.
Cyrano is a wonderful thinker, but he has problems with his self-image. He is a magnificent poet, which he definitely knows. He is a renowned fighter, which he also knows. He has proven these two things repeatedly, and in doing that, has inflated his ego. The one thing that can bring his ego down is his face. Cyrano thinks he is ugly
and nothing can change that. He knows that he is a great man, but his self-esteem is so low because of his nose. He cannot seem to get past that, and because he cannot, he believes that nobody else can, either.....
