Abraham Lincoln was a great man who rose from extremely humble beginnings in Kentucky to become the president of the United States. Abraham Lincoln’s views on slavery rooting from his childhood as well as his life extending to his assassination greatly influenced the United States of America.
Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in a log cabin near Hodgenville, Kentucky (3). Many people love to think of Lincoln as honest Abe, the ax swinging, log- splitting frontier boy who grew up to be president. But Lincoln had no love for poverty and the emptiness of frontier life, he also hated being called “Abe,” preferring to be called “Lincoln” (Stefoff 12).
