Mother Teresa One person that had a big impact on religion in her time was Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa, whose original name was Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu was born in what is now called Skopje, Yugoslavia in 1910. She was the last of three children to be born into the family. Between ages five and fourteen she attended catechism classes at the parish, joined the parish choir, and belonged to a Catholic youth organization called the Daughters of Mary.
