Perhaps the greatest broken-field runner of them all, Grange terrorized the opponents of the University of Illinois for three years. They set up special defenses to stop him, but his matchless speed and fight were too much for them all. For three years the famous red head made history in the backfield of the fighting Illini.
After Illinois Grange went on to play pro football, and such was his fame and drawing power that fans crowed stadiums all over the nation, hoping to see one of his exciting runs. Actually it was grange that gave pro football the push it needed to make it the game it is today.
