During World War II there were two different types of Nazi camps, the concentration camps and death camps. Concentration camps are places of detention for civilians considered political enemies, imprisonment usually takes place without trial. On the other hand, the purpose of death camps was to extract the maximum value out of each human life sent there, for the minimum upkeep.
In concentration camps, the aim was to intern the prisoners and to get some useful work out of them. The concentration camps interned political enemies, housed slave labor, and eventually exterminated millions of Jews and others. Concentration camps are not prisons where people are kept because they have been lawfully convicted of some criminal offense....
