World War one is one of the most devastating wars in history. The war was caused by nationalistic tension between countries. After the war a treaty was to be drawn up between the Allies and Germany. This treaty was supposed to be based on Woodrow Wilson's Fourteen points. Self-determination was one of Wilson's ideas that a nation should rule themselves rather then be ruled by others.
