Male and Female Roles In Society The fact that I have two sisters and no brothers has definitely shaped my life in a positive way. I would have had a very different life if I had a brother. The Indian culture is based on very distinct roles for men and women. I have witnessed my cousins and family friends being subject to expectations as to how girls and boys should act. I disagree strongly with the idea that boys are taught to exhibit dominant behaviors such as strength development and competitiveness while girls are taught to be passive, emotional and talkative. On the surface these characteristics seem harmless but when taken in the context of the Indian culture it reveals the future roles of men and women.
