On November twentieth, and December fourth, the first crucial pieces of the international space station were launched into orbit, to begin the largest, most complex engineering project, that has ever been undertaken in the history of science.
The first module that was launched into space was the Zarya Control Module. Zarya (meaning, sunrise) is the main propulsion of the project so far, and it has a weight of approximately twenty tons and is 14 meters long. It was launched from Russian cosmodrome in Kazakstan. The second module that was launched is called the Unity model. It is five meters long and seven meters in diameter. The Unity Model was transported into orbit off of the space shuttle Endeavor.
