A Geological Journey On October 17, 1998, the UST Geology students met in the UST parking lot and around 7:00 a.m. in the morning, we left to start our day long field trip to Central Texas. Right after we left the parking lot, we saw Kirk, one of our classmates, and picked him up. He woke up late and almost missed the trip, fortunately he got there right before we left the campus. We entered the freeway and took highway 71 to Austin, Texas. The drive to the first sight was long, and half of the people in the trip fell asleep, including myself. When we arrived in the city limits of Austin, it started raining really hard, and I overheard from the radio that there was a flash flood warning in one of the sights we were going to visit.
