In the Fall of 1997, the Harris government formally announced that funds for adult education were going to be significantly reduced through bill 160. This meant that adult education programs were going to be cancelled. Adults would not be able to go to high school for the coming September 1999. Consequently, several adult students, including myself, decided to take action and do something about it at our school, Western Tech., in order to protect the adult education program. Our first goal was to inform and educate other adult students and to get them involved in our cause. In order to achieve this, several conferences at the schools auditorium and cafeteria were hold.
