Death of a Salesman: Willy's Suicide Is His Downfall
In the drama Death of a Salesman by Author Miller the main character, Willy Loman, is a struggling salesman who prosontifies the true definition of a domestic tragic hero. A domestic tragic hero is an ordinary man, who has good qualities, but has several fatal flaws. Examples of Willys flaws are having false values, and also being dishonest. These fatal flaws lead to the character's downfall. Willys ultimate downfall is committing suicide in the end.
First of all, Willy has false values. He raised his children with the idea that popularity and being well liked is what makes one a success and righteous person. Willy says to Biff in Act 1, Be liked and you will never want (1363). Willy is very misguided....
