The character of Macbeth is a classic example of a Shakespearean tragic hero. Macbeth is a man of loyalty and an excellent warrior. Macbeths character is very strong and good willed but it is subdued by the many surrounding influences. Macbeth is represented as a tragic hero because of his great ambition and thirst for power, his failure in believing and relying on the witches prophecies, not being able to resist and giving in to Lady Macbeths manipulation and influence, which ultimately leads to his tragic downfall.
