overall attitude of a person, and sometimes requires some degree of conformity from one belief
to another. In relationship to The Crucible by Arthur Miller, many characters face this struggle
of conformity delineated through the plot, and must make important choices, which determine
their ultimate position within society. In this play, the madness of the Salem witch trials is
explored in great detail, and delineates how identity and pride can mean a decision between life
and death.
