Two young men and two young women sort themselves out in to marriageable couples, but only after one triangle, with Hermia at the apex and Helena excluded, is temporarily replaced by another, this time with Helena at the apex and Hermia excluded. In the play A Midsummer Nights Dream by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare displays and probes the mystery of how lovers find themselves; such as how Demetrius, one of the young men in the play, is at first in love with Hermia, yet he is persued by Helena, a woman whom he holds no interest. Only when his eyes have become anointed with a love potion crushed from an herb does he fall in love with Helena, and Hermia is no longer in the center.
