In the film, Breaker Morant, Harry Morant uttered the statement: that is what comes of empire-building. He says this right before his execution. The building of empires was very critical for Europe during the period of industrial growth. The British would sacrifice anybody or anything for the well being of its government. What comes of empire building is sacrifice, injustice, corruption, and in this case the execution of Harry Morant and Peter Hancock. Harry Morant understood that he was being sacrificed so the British government wouldnt look bad. When he uttered that is what comes of empire building, he was simply saying that sacrifice, injustice, and war is the ammunition the British used to expand its boundaries physically, politically, and economically.
There were obviously many motivations for the British occupation of South Africa during the turn of the twentiet....
