Amelia
In the first scene of Amelia the screenplay suggests inattentive family culture. The “cultural message” is displayed by Amelia’s parents whom don’t pay mind to their own daughter. Amelia is wearing masculine clothing which is a bit abnormal for her culture. Her clothing could be viewed as a cry for attention from her parents and her peers. The family appears to be quite wealthy by the looks of their “sporty sedan”. They also seem engrossed in an intelligent conversation about their daily jobs. Amelia receives her material attention but not the emotional attention she desire. This probably is a loving family but they possess a lack of communication with each other.
In this scene many parts would be difficult for other outside cultures to understand. The first part was when Amelia leaped from the basketball rim onto the hood of her parents car. This would be hard ....
