The Use of Camera Angles in Citizen Kane
The movie Citizen Kane is a movie that portrays a man from birth to death and his rise in society. Orson Welles, the director, used camera angles and a variety of angles to place emphasis on certain important points in the movie.
In the beginning as Kane is a young boy he is given a sled and the camera uses an angle from the boy's point of view. The shot shows the man from the child's eye level and this gives the viewer a sense of how Kane must look up to this man, large and tall. This is just one of the ways that Welles uses angles to put emphasis.
The second example of shots comes when Kane's large mansion is shown. Welles uses angles looking up to and down upon the house to show it's enormous size. This gives the viewer a sense of how large the house....
