Juliet develops from a obedient childlike girl to a mature courageous young lady. Her characteristics were mainly forced to grow up and mature through the events she encounters.
Juliet is very young at the time, only fourteen. And in many ways Juliet is indeed childlike. In the beginning of the story she seems quiet, obedient little girl, who is ready to do whatever her mother suggests, willing to *like* the man her father has chosen, but only as far as her parents permit it. Juliet also has a childlike trust in her Nurse, using her as a messenger to Romeo, relying on her to conceal the marriage and to bring Romeo to her chamber at night. The depth of this trust is measured by Juliets horror when it is betrayed. When Juliet is abandoned by both angry parents, and turning to the Nurse for comfort, is told to forge....
