Woe to that child which when kissed on the forehead tastes salty, for he is bewitched and soon must die. Northern European folklore, though a salty brow was the least of that childs worries that at the time was the way people found out that their child was going to die. How horrible this disease was, it slapped life in the face and left a salty after taste in your mouth to boot. This deadly autosomal disease which affects the lungs, pancreas, intestines and causes infertility is a disease that marked the end for anyone who contracted it. Although medical science has made great strides in this field it cant reverse the root abnormalities of Cystic Fibrosis, nor can it prevent the somewhat of an early death that occurs. The bottom line of this disease is that it causes a loss of chloride transport.
