Dyslexia
In Latin, Dyslexia literally means, "distorted words." This describes the learning disability that will be discussed in the pages that follow. Dyslexia, however, is much more than just the distortion of words. It includes several ways in which an individual may be handicapped, from reversing letters, and not being able to spell correctly to not being able to do simple math problems. It is estimated that 2.625 to 5 percent of the population suffers from dyslexia making it the most common type of learning disability (Spafford and Grosser 1996). However, despite being the most common type of learning disability, its origin and cause are still debated.
