In 1791, Jefferson and Madison went to New York to meet the anti-federalists grouped around governor George Clinton and the Tammany Club. Jefferson and Madison took advantage of the group's frustrations who saw all the functions conceded to their federalist opponents reunited around the Schuyler-Hamilton.
