Political Process of Early 1800s
In The early 1800s, the political process took drastic changes. Before, it was only the wealthy and aristocratic white males who had say in the election of our president (D boals) but that soon changed. In this essay, I will address three major issues. The voting bracket, the process of voting, and nominating the candidates who were to run.
Before this change in government policy, only wealthy landowners were allowed to vote. This angered many people who did not own enough land but felt that they deserved a voice in the election of their president. After all, the president was not to serve only the rich, but every American citizen. (Once again, D Boals) Only a few western states, like Ohio, allowed a greater voting bracket before 1816. African Americans even after the changes were only allowed....
