Art is a form of non-verbal communication. It expresses a persons
deepest, innermost feelings. Black artists can express emotions over
struggle in history with a single stroke of a brush. It is a way you can
experience black culture through African-American art. Many of these
artists should by categorized with great writers like Maya Angelou, or
Langston Hughes, because a lot of their works tell a story.
Black art has really caught my eye, so I recently attended the
Black Expo at the Palace of Auburn Hills, in Detroit, Michigan. You can
walk around and learn about the artists, view paintings, and purchase their
works. There were various works by Kathleen Wilson, Pennington McGee, John
Allen, and Chris Damola. The one artist that grasped my attention was an
