The Twentieth Century Belonged To Canada In discussing the upcoming century, it was inevitable some writer in your year end issue would make reference to Laurier's famous quote about how "the twentieth century belonged to Canada," and include the oft repeated comment he was wrong. What a disappointment, however, that it would come from a writer of Peter C. Newman's calibre. (The Dawn of a New Millenium, Dec. 30). Laurier was not wrong.
