All of these horrible creatures are slaughtered by men of incredible strength and courage. The first creature, Grendel, is killed by a man named Beowulf who is well known for his success in defeating villains. The second creature, Grendells mother, is also defeated by Beowulf. The last monster is a fire-breathing dragon that Beowulf attempted to kill, but the attack resulted in the death of himself. Instead the dragon is killed by Wiglaf, a warrior under Beowulf.
