Traveling to the island of Circe
After landing on the beach of an unknown island, Odysseus and his men his men split up into two groups and search for civilization. Odysseus and the other lead one group by Eurylochus, Odysseus most trusted friend. The latter of the two groups ventures upon the palace of Circe, where she turned all of the men into pigs, except for Eurylochus, who makes it back to camp and tells Odysseus of Circe. On his way to the palace, Hermes confronts Odysseus and tells him Here, this is a good medicine, take it, and go into Circes house; it will give you power against the day of trouble. And I will tell you all the malevolent guiles of Circe. (287-290)
