When asked about the use of Calculus in his line of work, Mr. Smallwood reflected about the usefulness of this branch of mathematics in his work. He explained that calculus is a phrase we use to denote the branch of mathematics, which studies properties of functions or curves that are associated with the limit process. Analysis deals generally with infinite processes and includes areas of complex analysis and differential equations. We then discussed the major applications of Calculus for the defense department.
