Gannett Company History Gannett Company is today one of the largest newspaper groups in the United States. Gannett now has facilities in 44 states, and the district of Columbia, Guan, US virgin Island, Germany, Singapore and UK ( Hoover pg. 639 ). The newspaper company was founded by Frank Ernest Gannett, Who in 1906 began his interest in newspaper companies. Gannett was brought up in New York. His father was a farmer who later owned several hotels. Gannett First experience with newspaper was in collage were he worked on the school news paper(Encyclopedia Britannica). After graduation college he became the editor of Ithaca Journal in 1900. Gannett started his first newspaper company in New York, the name of the paper was called Elmira Gazette ( Hoover pg. 638). This paper expanded slowly, Gannett with the help of some associates purchased another newspaper. ....
