The Motor and How It Works To figure out the mystery to the motor I basically just turned it on. I noticed the way it spun with the power cords in each position. No matter the way the cords are hooked up, the same thing happens. I figured that the motor works by magnetizing the four tubes (solenoids). The current leaves the power supply and goes through solenoid 1. The current gives solenoid 1 a magnetic field. The current then goes through the middle spinning thing (includes solenoid 2, 3 and the middle rod). After the current leaves the middle thing, it travels through solenoid 4, giving it a magnetic field opposite and equal of solenoid 1. I know that the fields are equal because the current is always constant and the coils are the same on both sides of the motor.
