The Plague Father Paneloux gives two sermons throughout the novel The Plague. Throughout the novel many people lose their faith due to their struggles with the terrible plague. In Father Paneloux’s first sermon He feels that the plague was sent from God because the people in Oran hadn’t repented for their sins. “Calamity has come on you, my brethren, and, you my brethren, you deserved it” (Camus p.94).
