With this seed planted, the comments and ideas that Gulliver impose upon those reading his four books have their own identity as they correspond with his beliefs and statements on the state of civilization, and humanity in general. Everywhere Gulliver goes he seems to comment on the good and bad points of the people he encounters. Although he does find many good virtues in others, Swift gives him a generally negative and cynical attitude towards the manner in which his fellow Englishman behaved, subtly represented in his encounters with other nations that unflatteringly reflect his generation....
