Howard Roark from, The Fountainhead, was the physical representation of Ayn Rands philosophy, objectivism, and various other main characters represented other philosophies which were rejected by objectivism. Howard Roark shows all of the basic principles of objectivism at different points throughout the novel. The character Ellsworth Toohey represented collectivism, and Peter Keating demonstrated altruism.
Altruism is the philosophy of finding morality in living for others or for society. The most prominent altruist in The Fountainhead, was Peter Keating, who was the exact opposite of Howard Roark.
