The Jungle
Through out the 1900’s there were many factories’ that had shown cruelty towards it’s workers and, perform many illegal activities. There are many good example of this in Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle. This books main purpose as to get the public involved in what was happening to works and, in Sinclair’s book how their food was being treated.
The spoiled meat factory had many abuses, some included no places for workers to eat except for in one of the immumerable saloons surrounding the yard, symbolizing the workers were never really away from work. Also workers had long hours in which all the cattle brought in that day had to be killed on the same day, plus the workers were never paid for half an hours work. This showed that the owners of these plantations were very cheap and, did not care how long people worked as long as the work....
