Eveline has a chance to do what most people can only dream of and that’s leaving with her boyfriend Frank so that she could start her life over. As you read the story you get the sense that anyone who lives such a miserable life would be mentally retarded not to leave everything behind. It would seem as if something was holding her back from leaving. Could it be fear? Could it be an unbreakable promise? Both reasons are understandable from our point of view, but the life she lives is terrible and nothing should have stopped her from going with Frank. Eveline for sure is an insecure woman.
