There are many reasons why he is the most interesting. He is hiding a sin from everyone, and it is eating him up inside. To top it off he also preaches about how it is bad. Hester's husband is also hurting him by always being there and trying to pick into Mr. Dimmsdale's heart and find out the secret, which he already knows.
