The Scarlet Letter: Mr. Dimmsdale After reading The Scarlet Letter, I have decided to write about Mr. Dimmsdale, because I have found him to be the most interesting person. There are many reasons why he is the most interesting. He is hiding a sin from everyone, and it is eating him up inside. To top it off he also preaches about how it is bad. Hester's husband is also hurting him by always being there and trying to pick into Mr. Dimmsdale's heart and find out the secret, which he already knows. He is just doing it as a kind of torture to Mr. Dimmsdale. There are a number of times were Mr. Dimmsdale's health was fading. Pearl keeps on mentioning that he keeps holding his hand over his heart.
