To Kill A Mockingbird: Atticus Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird is a story set in the 1930’s set in Maycomb, Alabama about a white man, Atticus Finch, who defends a falsely accused black man. Atticus has two young children, Scout and Jem, Scout being the youngest. In this story Atticus is characterized as a good parent, he proves this in many ways. The first example that shows Atticus’s parenting skills is when he allows Scout to wear overalls despite Aunt Alexandria’s suggestions to encourage her to wear dresses to become more "lady like".
