Far From the Madding Crowd was published in 1874 and proved to be a financial success for Hardy, who found popularity because of this well-liked story. Eventually Hardys humorous portrayal of romance and love made it to the big screen, which only proved to increase the enthusiasm for Far From the Madding Crowd.
