Often people become vengeful when they have been hurt deeply. In Wuthering Heights written by Emily Brontλ, Heathcliff is one character who seeks revenge when he is betrayed. Although Heathcliff becomes vengeful in his younger years, it is in his adulthood that he takes revenge against his former torturers. Even his true love is a victim of his revenge.
To begin, Heathcliff is vengeful as a boy and teenager because he was abused by Hindley. Heathcliff was rescued from the streets of Liverpool at the age of seven and then brought to Wuthering Heights. Heathcliff, however, was not welcomed by anyone, especially his foster-brother Hindley, who tortured him every time he got a chance. As Catherine states, Poor Heathcliff! Hindley calls him a vagabond, and wont let him sit with us, nor let him sit ....
