“The Cariboo Cafe” This story “The Cariboo Cafe” from The Moths and other stories by Helena Maria Viramontes is told in three different parts. In the first part we read about Sonia and Macky who are children that migrated to the United States with their parents but are now lost in the streets. In the second part we read how the cook who owns a cafe thinks about the world after losing his son JoJo in a war and his wife Nelle who left him. Finally, in the third part we met a mother who is suffering because she lost her son in a Central American country. Sonia and Macky are lost physically, the cook who is lost emotionally, and the woman who is lost mentally.
