It is my belief that everyone is lonely at some point in their lives. For some people this period may seem like an eternity, for others, it may only last for a few days or weeks at a time. Three characters in the novel "Of Mice and Men" who I feel are lonely are: Lennie, Candy, and Curley's Wife. I have chosen to show you how these very different characters have all suffered the same fate, to be lonely.
Lennie is a big, strong man who is unfortunately mentally handicapped. This mental handicap has caused Lennie to become distant and separated from the rest of the world. Since Lennie is unable to comprehend even the simplest concept he is not allowed to join the other men when they: play horseshoes, play cards, and when they go to bars and cathouses.
