The New Deal The Great Depression was a time when people needed someone to take charge and make something happen to better the economy. In 1932 a man named Franklin D. Roosevelt came up with a new strategy called the New Deal, which he and all Americans hoped would bring their country out of the worst depression it had ever seen. Along with this new deal, came what some would say was the third American revolution. A revolution involves some sort of change in the way people live, be it either political, social, or economic. The main way in which the New Deal was a revolution was political. It signaled a drastic change in the way the government worked. It was now a major part of everyday life. It was not the laissez-faire government that Hoover had used before. Roosevelt took charge, circulating money into the economy....
