Women of the United States gained status in their lives both job/society oriented as well as in their influence on governmental influence in World War I. Throughout the United States before World War I, women were viewed as a lower "class" of people, as the inferior of men, however, during the war when women were needed to do the jobs of men who left for the war, their influence in both society and government spread and gained them a lasting status in the US.
Through their requirement to take over the jobs of men as the men were in the war, women gained new and exciting jobs, as well as influence in society.
