Alexander Hamilton may seem to some as a man who had only one thing on his mind and that was to help America in its greatest time of need. This opinion should be well respected. Hamilton took on a big problem, the national debt. Hamilton had a plan of his own to work this debt out, his very own financial program. This plan consisted of a great multitude of things that would, in his opinion, help out the national debt. First he wanted to fund the national debt and assume state debts. Secondly, he wanted to create a national bank. Then, he tried to propose a protective tariff. Finally, Hamilton proposed an excise tax on distilled liquors. Hamilton's purpose was to get rid off national debt and he seemed to stop at nothing to change this.
