World Hunger
.... the docks passed food leaving the famine areas on other
vehicles. Merchants were taking food from famine areas to parts of the country
where there was no famine. World Hunger and poverty can be seen in many ways.
But first lets establish a solid definition of poverty : Poverty is a state in
which the ability of individuals or groups to use power to bring about good for
themselves, their families, and their community is weakened or blocked. When
someone lacks food, this is referred to as material pover .....

Gangs
.... A kid (a 6-10 year old, who is not
yet a member) is shown that s/he could make $200 to $400 for small part time
gang jobs. Although these are important factors they are not strong enough to
make kids do things that are strongly against their morals.
One of the ways that kids morals are bent so that gang violence becomes
more acceptable is the influence of television and movies. The average child
spends more time at a TV than she/he spends in a classroom. Since nobody can
completely turn off .....

Immigration Into Canada
.... and awareness on both sides we can alleviate the social tensions.
Introduction
There is a school in Vancouver which is offering a four year immersion
programme to its students. That in itself is not highly unusual in our bilingual
nation, what is unusual is that the language of choice for the immersion
programme is not French, it is Mandarin. The programme was voted in by parents
who believed the Mandarin language to be more important to their children's
futures in Vancouver than French. This situation .....

The Population Solution
.... were possible, it wouldn't give us much time. If the growth-rate stays
at 2.0 per cent, then in a little over 2,200 years - say, by 4220 AD - the human
populat i on would weigh as much as the entire Solar system, including the Sun...
and by about 6700 AD - the human population would weigh as much as the entire
Universe." The preceding paragraph, by Isaac Asimov describes quite alarmingly
just how bad the population problem really is, that in considerably less time
that has passed since the days of Julius .....

Family Values
.... me when I was a child. I believe
it's like teaching an old dog new tricks. A child needs direction from the
childhood up to adulthood not the reverse. I recall coming home from school to
an empty house. My parents were working to provide us with a home, things we
needed and wanted. Regardless, as a child a family was just as important. A
popular soul singer, Luther Vandross, sang a song whose lyrics explained about
objects in a house that were still the same, but a house was not a home if there
wasn' .....

Why Are There Poor People
.... didn't have jobs to go to every
day, or cars to take them wherever they needed to go, and not every family in
the world had breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. He told me that I was
very lucky to have all the things that I had, and that millions of kids in the
world would die to have the life I had. I was still very confused about the
whole situation. Why wasn't every family like ours? What did those people do
wrong? My dad just said that was life . . . some people are lucky, and some
people .....

Parental Pressure Within High School Students
.... an influence, is it positive or negative? I would like to do research on
this because it raised my curiosity. For me personally, I do better in school
if I am calm and have little pressure, but there might be students out there at
Ramapo High School that think differently. These are some of the things that I
will try to find out through this I-Search.
III. At the beginning of my search, I had a really hard time finding
secondary sources. First, I went to the school library. Since the school
library h .....

Pornography: Sex Or Subordination?
.... a means of unlocking the evil I had
buried inside myself” (Leidholdt 47). Is it possible that pornography is acting
as the key to unlocking the evil in more unstable minds?
According to Edward Donnerstein, a leading researcher in the pornography
field, “the relationship between sexually violent images in the media and
subsequent aggression and . . . callous attitudes towards women is mush stronger
statistically than the relationship between smoking and cancer” (Itzin 22).
After considering the increase i .....

The Pressure To Be Perfect
.... garage-door
openers, drive-in windows, and the remote control. It use to be that you would
at least burn some calories by having to get up and turn the channel on the
television, but thanks to technology it is now a push of a button. Just think,
things have the possibility to grow increasingly worse because of the
'information super highway'. There is no need to get out and walk the malls in
search of a particular item or gift. With the use of the 'super highway' you
just need a credit card and the item i .....

Values
.... that the decisions that I make
in life will be guided by people that care about the outcome, and if things
don't work out they'll be there to do whatever they can to help me. You never
have to put on a front with your relatives, they will almost always accept you
for who you are.
Another value that was influenced by my parents as well as television, is
friendship. Even though your family is always there for you, friends are still
very important to have. Having friends will usually raise a person' .....

A Jew In Germany Or Occupied Europe:
.... has been a
new ruling body installed in Germany called NAZI and according to her newspapers
it is led by a hero, who has come to save Germany; Adolf Hitler. These Nazis
oppose our jewish religion greatly; nearly everybody does, but this is a new
strain of hatred that I have no seen before. In letter she states that some new
anti-semitic rules called "The Nuremburg Laws" came into effect just this month
which will practically sign her business' death warrant. Over the pass year her
shop has been fire bo .....

Moral Force Protesting

government, are other ways to morally protest without any physical violence.
Sometimes due to the refusal to abide to certain laws the supporters may find
abusive, the moral force protest supporters might find themselves confronting
the law, and perhaps even acting illegally. In recent years, certain countries
which hadn't previously given women the right to vote changed their decision by
receiving strong moral force protest; this right was gained, and nowad .....

Animal Testing: Testing....1....2...3

They are not yet, at least. However, kidney and heart transplants are beginning
to become a more and more common every day. Who knows what is possible with the
proper research. Today there are a great deal of people who oppose animal
testing in laboratory research. This is limiting our medical capabilities .
Could we be holding ourselves back from medical breakthroughs such as a cure for
cancer or AIDS? Animal testing is alr .....

Violence: Children Who Own The Streets
.... the America that we knew, this is a
battle. What can we do to influence these kids to stay off trouble? First of
all, we have to realize this is a very serious problems. And it has to be
stopped. The second step is to figure out what causes children to be violent
and become juvenile delinquents. This negative attitude causes them to lead a
life of delinquency and a life isolated from society's idealistic world. When
we ask these question, many others come in mind. Does these problems begin in
the fa .....
