Free Will Versus Determinism
.... there would be decisions and actions
in which God could not know due to the person's choice. This would limit
God's omnipotence, which is unacceptable to some. The other argument for
determinism is causation, or causes and effects. This argument depends on
relationships that should happen with the same results every time, such as
a baseball breaking a window, breaking the window. Basing on this,
everything in the universe has a cause. And if all the causes and the
events were known, then it would b .....

Response To Susan Horton's Article "Mothers, Sons, And The Gangs"
.... living in a
society pressured by gang affiliation. Although their homes had loving
mothers their gangs had friends, bravado, acceptance, and a way of life.
Studies prove that youth join gangs because of "low self-esteem and a
stressful home life. A youth whose friends with gang- members and
experiences peer- pressure to join. A youth with poor academic performance,
a lack of alternatives, lack of positive support, a feeling of helplessness,
and hopelessness, as well as very frightened youth who is intimid .....

Home Is Where The Heart Is
.... went over to the living room and sat down on my couch. I felt as if the
couch was giving me a big hug. My grandpa told me recently of the time
when he returned from World War II. He said when he returned home not only
did he kiss my Grandmother, but he also kissed the floor of his humble home.
He said the old rhyme he it for so humble their is no place like home,
really meant something to him.
I guess that a dorm room would be described as a home because it is
just a temporary shelter. But my dorm roo .....

Roger Rosenblatt's "The Bill Of Rights": Inescapable Dilemma
.... But what
if the child was deformed, or was otherwise going to be born into a
possibly unhealthy environment? Isn't taking away the opportunity to live
life morally wrong? There are many more questions that face the doctor as
well as the mother of the fetus. So, as the mother and the doctor are
faced with this dilemma, sometimes what they feel is morally correct is
not legal- as abortion is illegal in certain states.
Another example of an inescapable dilemma is guns. Should it be
legal for man to ha .....

Magic: I Know The Secret!
.... or illusion was done then they too could do it and this would
as we know it would become a much happier and mystical place. It is true
that all magicians and performers of that nature would have to take up new
professions and that most of them would become broke and most likely
homeless. But it is also true that everyone would be having the time of
their lives performing those tricks for their friends and family.
Just think about all of the conveniences that magic would bring to
our fast paced life .....

Imagery Is An Important Element In Writing
.... "Heat":
Cut the heat-
Plow through it,
turning it on either side
of your path.
The reader can clearly see the heat being pushed out of the way by an
opposing force. The reader can also imagine the turbulence created by this
force. The heat becomes thick, as if it is a solid object. William Carlos
Williams used simple language in his poetry. In "The Red Wheelbarrow,"
Williams uses lively colors such as "a red wheel barrow" and "beside th .....

Man Is Innately Good, But Has The Ability To Be Evil
.... I could make someone feel
bad. I automatically feel my face turn red, and that would be the end of
the thought. But I think once in a while everyone thinks something like,
"He would really be embarrassed if I told everyone about that time at camp.
Plus I could get him back," or something like, "She doesn't deserve that.
What if they found out what she did last year." This is not exactly evil
thoughts, but it can quite possibly lead to evil actions.
Prejudice is another form of evil that produces .....

Wolf's "The Child By Tiger" And Bowen's "Tears, Idle Tears": The Innocence Of The Child
.... to represent Frederick's alteration of personality.
When he first tries to pet the duck, the duck runs down to the pond and
swims away. After Frederick talks with a girl that he meets at the pond,
he comes to the realisation that he's not alone, there is someone else out
there that has a problem with crying. He seems to find a new sense of
self-esteem because of this knowledge. In the story "The Child By Tiger",
Wolfe often refers to Prosser as a cat or a tiger. These symbolic
references help conve .....

Leacock's "Sunshine Sketches Of A Little Town": Ironic Sketches Of A Little Town
.... [Critics] felt that one of the main reasons for
Leacock's success was that his style was that of "a talker rather than a
writer". Another said..."He talked to the world. And the talk was good."
(Curry. p.242-243)
Satire is defined as a genre in which the author attacks some object,
using his means of wit or humour that is either fantastic or absurd. In the
case of Sunshine Sketches, Leacock's target is a fictitious small town in
southern Ontario, which could be, and often is, compared to all other .....

Paper On Irony
.... a couple of days.@
The initial thoughts were that of a typical adolensce ; party,
party, party, but then the first night began. I remember crawling into my
mother=s bed thinking about the party I would have this weekend and the
many weekends after. Then I heard it: something stirring in the house. I
jumped up and rushed to the windows as I looked out my eyes were enveloped
in blackness, and my ears were drowning in silence. That=s when I heard it;
thump, thump, thump and I heard it again but f .....

James Hurst's Use Of Symbols To Create A Mood
.... Summer of Two Figs," the fabric
originally meant for a party dress that ended up turning into a shroud,
allowed one to sense that a dead organism was lurking nearby. The
statement "evil lurking around the perimeters of the homesteads," not only
represented a horrid feeling of death, but also created a sense of dread
and dismay for the place being described.
When James Hurst mentioned in both paragraphs that summer had
started and was going to soon end, he indicated that there was a life about.

Summary Of Oates' "Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been"
.... come for a ride." (Oates 1012).
Arnold seems to be pressuring Connie from the start and is obviously not
there just to take her for a ride. The "ride" that Arnold talks of could
possibly even have a sexual connotation that Connie does not pick up on
because she is so young and blind to the world of sexual pleasures that
Arnold lives in. Oates chooses words too carefully to show that Arnold is
a devious snake. Connie sees Arnold many times as an evil character and
letting the reader know by describ .....

The Tell Tale Heart: The Labovian Theory
.... Heart" is a masterly written
narrative, full of subtle nuances quick to deceive the senses. Poe sends
the reader spinning into a world of symbolism, questioning the art of
madness, and fearing the depravity of reason.
The "The Tell-Tale Heart" is, at a glance, seemingly about a man
plotting to kill another man in cold blood. Looking further into the words,
the reader can find a story of a man obsessed with senses and the ability
to have complete control over them. The narrator uses reason to .....

The Growth Of Coarse Language

By the time a he/she starts the 1st grade the child would have a
productive vocabulary and understand as many as 14000 words. this means
that the child has learned 9 new words every day science he or she started

this period of time, as a matter of fact it keeps increasing even more as
the child learns to read. by the time they are 17 they would have a 800000

Life
.... some speak of the most horrible fears and the most dreamed about
hopes, and some tell of Love and Loss that the author experienced.
Some chapters are not finished and will be completed at a later
time. Some chapters are blurred, because not even the author knows what
happened, or what he wishes would happen. And some chapters are blank pages,
waiting to be filled. More than once, the author has wished he could go
back a few pages and rewrite it differently, but alas, the book has already
been publis .....
